Es wurde 1258 von askanischen Markgrafen gegr\u00fcndet und hatte weitreichende Bedeutung am n\u00f6rdlichen Rand des Einflussbereichs der Askanier (Grenze mit den Slawen).<br><br>Zwischen der 1542 erfolgten S\u00e4kularisation und dem beginnenden 19. Jahrhundert war das Kloster dem Verfall preisgegeben. Dann erfolgten Sicherung der Ruinen und teilweise Rekonstruktion der Geb\u00e4ude unter der Leitung von Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Heute ist das Zisterzienserkloster Chorin ein die Backsteingotik typisch repr\u00e4sentierendes Baudenkmal. Als Teil im Deutsch-Polnischen Klosternetzwerk ist es Veranstaltungsort mit \u00fcberregionaler Anziehungskraft. 2017 wurde eine Dauerausstellung eingerichtet und er\u00f6ffnet, die das Leben und Arbeiten der M\u00f6nche im Kloster Chorin thematisiert und in einem weiteren Abschnitt die Entdeckung und denkmalpflegerischen Bem\u00fchungen von Karl Friedrich Schinkel aufzeigt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
